I was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. As long as I can remember I have loved to cook. When I was growing up I would spent a lot of time with my mother in the kitchen learning how to cook. When I was in high school boys weren't allowed to take home economics like they are now days so everything I learned about cooking back then, I learned from my mother. I thought about going to cooking school when I graduated but I wasn't able to afford it at the time.
I moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1969 where I met my wife Saundra. We were married in October 1970, and have been happily married
ever since. We also lived in Atlanta, Georgia for 5 years, then moved back to Iowa in 1976 and now live in
Des Moines. We have 4 children and 10 grand children.
Saundra was never really interested in cooking while she was living at home, so after we got married I taught her what I knew. If I say so myself she turned out to be a pretty good cook.
I love to collect recipes, cookbooks, and cooking utensils. At the present time I have around 350 cookbooks or so. These include a couple of cookbooks used at the Culinary Institute of America. I also subscribe to 5 or 6 cooking magazines. I am also a lifetime member of
The Cooking Club Of America.
In my spare time I design graphics and websites for myself as well as others. My hobbies include photography, painting and drawing, and collecting Breyer Model Horses.
I hope this has answered some of your questions about me. If you would like to know more just ask.
